  • Just a reminder about ddos attacks

Dialsoft would like to remind everyone that a DDOS attack is not quite the same thing as a hack, and that no user information was compromised:
?These attacks are just flooding our internet tubes: no actual account information, payment information, is at risk. Given some of the realm stability issues caused by the service interruptions there may be some issues with spells, logging issues or just lag.
DDOS attacks are among the most common kind of cybercrime, but they?re more akin to vandalism than anything else. They?re easy to do and difficult to defend against: basically they work by sending huge amounts of dummy traffic to a given server, overwhelming it and shutting it down. Video game companies are routine and popular targets, most notably in a series of large attacks against Blizzard and EA earlier this year. Let?s not forget Sony and others in previous years. They?re not the biggest thing in the world, but they are terribly annoying, and can cause a real headache for those tasked with defending against them.
You can either complain and be part of the problem or help and be part of the solution.

    Thank you mouse,
now that the servers are stable again, can we work on a proper anti plug to severely improve gameplay?

The 20 seconds on abo is awesome, but could be much improved by adding the following interrupts:
    1) restart the 20 seconds timer when any kind of pot is drunk,
    2) restart the 20 seconds timer when the player moves,
    3) restart the 20 seconds timer when an attack is done or received,
    4) restart the 20 seconds timer when a healing spell is casted or received (other than aura and rings effect),
    5) restart the 20 seconds timer when an offensive spell from a player is casted or received. (protection spells and instincts/dexterity shouldn't interrupt).

The problem comes from unethical player plugging instead of fighting, and using this bug as a strategic advantage. Some archers even start the countdown while they hit+entangle warriors, then disconnect as the warrior gets too close or they restart the timer if they have the upper hand and a solid entangled target.

The problem is well known, and this solution WILL solve it.

    Thank you for your time,

I will pass the request onto our development team. Currently there is no way for us on a server level to adjust the anti plug.
